InWebo User F.A.Q.

My InWebo

My InWebo is your In-Webo user account. Following features are available in your account

  • Adding authentication tools (nCode, Application for Mac & PC), according to your needs
  • Manage such tools (lock, renew, reset, ...)
  • Add information that will enable the My InWebo account restoration, in case you lose all authentication tools linked to your My InWebo account
  • Visualize sites and services linked to your My InWebo account, which you can access with your InWebo authentication tools

Other services and features are under development...

The connection to your My InWebo account is secured by a strong authentication. You can connect to My InWebo from any InWebo application for Mac & PC associated to your account by clicking on the "My InWebo" button of the InWebo browser extension.

You may also access My InWebo without the application. You then have access to limited features of your account, such as:

  • Downloading InWebo application on your computer. Remember to only install the application on your  own computers, or on computers you use regularly, not on a public computer such as an Internet coffees (use nCode instead when your work on a public computer)
  • Lock your InWebo mobile application if you have lost your mobile phone
  • Request your account restoration, in case you have lost access to all InWebo authentication tools

Your Email address is your unique In-Webo identifier. You will need such an identifier, should you want to block a mobile application in case of loss, unlock a device, or should you request the restoration of your My InWebo account.

After having entered your Email address, you will receive a confirmation link in order to validate it. The validation status (ok or no) is indicated in My InWebo.

You can delete this information at any time. In-Webo commits not to use this address for other purposes than the one mentioned above. In particular, you will only receive emails you have directly triggered. In-Webo will not communicate your Email to third parties or partners other than those in charge of operating My InWebo services, and for this sole purpose.

Of course not. But if you want to activate the restoration feature, you will need to. The restoration feature allows you to restore your My InWebo account if you have lost all the authentication tools linked to it. Restoring the account will spare your time and avoid you to contact all your sites or services providers to request a new activation code.

At any time, you can modify or delete your contact information from your My InWebo account. In-Webo commits not to use these information for any other purpose than the one mentioned above, and not to communicate them to third parties, unless those involved in delivering the restoration feature.

InWebo Helium

InWebo Helium needs to be activated, i.e. personnalized for your own use. To do this, you have to enter a Secure Site ID (9-digit code, also called 'Activation code'). You will then have to define your "InWebo password": this is a secret information that ensures that only you can thoroughly use Helium.

How to obtain this Secure Site ID depends on your situation:

If this is your first contact with InWebo, the Secure Site ID should have been given to you by an InWebo partner Web Site, for which you will use InWebo to authenticate from now on. If you don't have it and simply want to understand what InWebo and Helium can be used for, you can get one from InWebo demo site. Activating Helium will create a My InWebo account for you.
If you already have InWebo, you can get the Secure Site ID from your My InWebo account (Go to 'My devices') or using InWebo nCode / Authenticator (Tools > Activate a new device).
If you want to unlock Helium, You can get the recovery code either from your My InWebo account, or by contacting the InWebo partner site for which you are using InWebo authentication. If you filled your email address is your My InWebo account, you can also click on the link "Receive a recovery code by email" directly on Helium.

Mobile applications

InWebo nCode and Authenticator are mobile applications used to generate One-Time-Passwords (OTP) on demand. These OTP are used to authenticate to your accounts on sites that partner with In-Webo. InWebo authentication is very secure and very easy, as you do not need to remember an additional password, without being exposed to password guessing. nCode and Authenticator are dedicated to you: it displays only the sites and services you have access to.

Beyond authentication, features include:

  • Add a new site by entering a secure site ID
  • Synchronize, reset
  • Change your PIN
  • Activate or unlock another InWebo device (InWebo for Mac & PC, InWebo Helium)

InWebo Authenticator is an evolution of nCode. Among other things, it allows activation and authentication by flashing a QR Code. However, the security level is identical for both apps.

InWebo Authenticator is available only on iPhone (IOS 4 and later) and Android (version 2.3 and later).

InWebo nCode is available on iPhone (starting from IOS 3), Android (starting from version 1.6), Blackberry and J2ME.

  • iPhone and iPad: search for 'inwebo' in the Appstore, or click here
  • Android: search for 'inwebo' in Android Market or click here
  • Blackberry: search for 'inwebo' in Blackberry App World (or click here) or type m.inwebo.com in the browser on your Blackberry
  • Any other mobile phone: enter m.inwebo.com in the browser on your phone. nCode download portal will automatically detect your phone model and push the right nCode version. Then read and follow installation instructions. In some cases, if the phone cannot be recognized, you will be proposed a version that should work for your phone. Note: some of In-Webo partner sites and services propose to receive a short text message containing the download url, so that you do not have to type it in the phone browser.

Once installed, the app must be activated.

After installation, InWebo nCode (or Authenticator) needs to be activated, i.e. personnalized for your own use. To do this, you have to enter a Secure Site ID (9-digit code, also called 'Activation code'). you will then have to define your "PIN code": this is a secret information that ensures that only you can thoroughly use nCode.

How to obtain this Secure Site ID depends on your situation:

If this is your first contact with InWebo, the Secure Site ID should have been given to you by an InWebo partner Web Site, for which you will use nCode to authenticate from now on. If you don't have it and simply want to understand what InWebo nCode can be used for, you can get one from InWebo demo site. Activating nCode will create a My InWebo account for you.
If you already have InWebo for PC or InWebo Helium, you can get the Secure Site ID from your My InWebo account (Go to 'My devices'). In this case, activating nCode does not create an new My InWebo account. nCode is attached to your existing one.
If you want to reset your nCode application, You can get the recovery code either from your My InWebo account, or by contacting the InWebo partner site for which you are using nCode.

For the time being, In-Webo only allows one nCode or Authenticator application per user. Of course, you can install an nCode application both on your company phone and on your personal phone, in order to split business and private use. You would then have 2 distinct My InWebo accounts.

One-Time Passwords provided by nCode (or Authenticator) replace the password you used to have. When a secure site prompts you for authentication credentials, start nCode app on you mobile and select the secure site from the list.

If necessary, you will be prompted for your InWebo PIN. An OTP will then be displayed by nCode. You now have 45 seconds to type it in the "password" field of the site's authentication form.

Application for Mac & PC

InWebo application is a dedicated authentication tool installed on the user desktop and complemented by one or serveral browser extensions.

The application makes the connection to your sites and services both very easy ("One click") and very secure.

In-Webo partner sites and services provide you an activation code that allows you to add this site or service to your application. After this, every time you connect to that site, the application performs a silent strong authentication. This means that no one but you can access to your acount on that site, even in case your password is guessed or copied.

InWebo application is therefore both a convenience tool and a security tool, for your sites and for you.

InWebo application is available on Windows and Mac.

It provides browser extensions for Firefox, Internet Explorer (6, 7, 8) and Chrome. On Mac it also proposes and extension for Safari.

InWebo application will probably be directly proposed by one of your site or service. In any case, you can download InWebo application on My InWebo portal for free.

Download the setup file. Then read and follow the installation instructions. You will the be prompted to install one or several browser extensions.

Administrator rights are required to install the Internet Explorer on Windows.

Once installed, this application must be activated and linked to your My InWebo account (see "How to activate InWebo application?").

The way to obtain a Secure Site ID to activate InWebo application depends on your actual situation:

  • If you have never installed inWebo application for Mac & PC or InWebo nCode mobile application, you do not have a My InWebo account: the ID should have been delivered to you by an In-Webo partner site or service. You may otherwise get an ID from our demo web site. Activating the application creates a My InWebo account for you.
  • If this is an additional installation, you already activated InWebo application on a computer or an InWebo mobile application: the Secure Site ID is provided in your My InWebo account accessed from this application, or by nCode. Activating the new InWebo application does not create a new My InWebo account, the application is linked to your existing account.
  • If your are restoring your My InWebo account because you have lost or blocked all authentication tools linked to your My InWebo account: the ID is a restoration key you can request here, with or without the application, if you have enabled this feature in your My InWebo account. Activating the application does not create a new My InWebo account, it restores access to your existing account
  • If your are unlocking one of your services because you have lost or blocked all authentication tools linked to your My InWebo account, or because the My InWebo account restoration does not apply to some of your services: the recovery code is provided by this site or service provider. Activating the application will unlock or add this service in your My InWebo account.

Make sure you properly identify the situation and follow associated guidelines: new user OR existing active user OR blocked user with or without restoration capability.

After having installed InWebo application with one browser extension (or more), it is generally required to relaunch the browser to be able to see the extension. Unless this is a mere version upgrade of an existing application, you then need to activate it, so that it becomes customized to your sites and services. For this:

  • Click on the "Activate" button of InWebo browser extension.
  • Enter your Secure Site ID. If this is the first application you are activating, you need to define and confirm your InWebo password; this is the secret information needed to restrict access to your application. If this is a new application installation, you only need to indicate your InWebo password for authentication purpose.
  • Optionally, you can then name your application, so that you will be able to distinguish it in My InWebo (you can give it a name that identifies the computer it is installed on).

The activation process is now completed. You can enjoy using InWebo application.

Yes, you can install as many instances of the application as you need, i.e. install it on several computers.

To install InWebo application on a new computer and link it to your My InWebo account, download the application installer from the computer you want it installed. Then, activate it with a code obtained through your My InWebo account or your nCode mobile application.

In the Bookmark menu of the InWebo browser extension, select the site or service you want to connect to. The page is displayed. Note: if you are already on the page, you can use the "Connect" button instead of the Bookmark menu.

A browser window opens up and prompts you for your InWebo password. This window must display the "antiphishing seal" you have defined in your My InWebo account. If this information is not correctly displayed, either you are not using your own application, or there is a security issue with your computer. In this case, you would better not enter your InWebo password.

After you have entered your password, a strong and secure authentication takes place behind the scene. Your transaction is confirmed, or you are securely connected to your account.

  • The application allows to access to your My InWebo account, just by clicking the "My InWebo" button of the associated InWebo browser extension
  • You may add a site or service with a Secure Site ID provided by this site or service, by choosing "Add Bookmark" in the "Options menu" of the extension
  • You can synchronize your application if a site or service recently added does not automatically appear, by choosing "Synchronize" in the "Options" menu of the extension
  • The browser extension displays your connection status. Grey, you are not connected, you will need to enter your InWebo password whatever the action you perform in the extension. Green, you are connected, your password will be requested for connecting only if the security policy of the bookmark you select requires it

In any case, if you leave your computer, it is recommanded that you disconnect by clicking on the connection status button in the browser extension. Once grey again, no operation can be done while you are away.
